Can I rent a scooter to visit another country?

Yes, as long as the rental is picked up and returned to one of our 1500+ North American locations (we currently provide rental delivery locations only in the continental United States and Canada). As always, if you’re planning a trip to a foreign country and would like our help to arrange for a personal transport vehicle, give us a call at 1-888-441-7575 - we’ll speak with you about equipment power and charging requirements and other details you may need to know. Scootaround operators can be reached from 7 AM to 7 PM Central Standard Time (that's 6 hours behind GMT).

What kind of mobility equipment do you rent?

All Scootaround rental locations offer three-wheeled electric mobility scooters, designed to assist individuals who have difficulty walking long distances either outdoors or inside.

How fast can I book mobility equipment?

To ensure equipment availability, we recommend that you contact us at least 48 hours in advance for land-based rentals. For cruise-based rentals, we recommend at least 5 business days. Of course, in an emergency situation, we’ll try to get you the equipment you need as fast as we can.

Do you rent anything else besides scooters?

Who do I call if my equipment breaks down?

Scootaround operators can be reached seven days a week through our toll-free number 1-888-441-7575. Outside of regular business hours, you can leave a message and our on-call technical staff will respond promptly.

I am heavier than the average person. Will the equipment be suitable for my needs?

What are your rental rates?

Our rental rates vary according to the destination, rental duration, and your requested pick-up / drop-off points. Please note that all quotes are provided in US dollars.

How do I pay for the equipment rental?

Scootaround accepts payment by major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Due to the international nature of our business, all prices are quoted / billed in US dollars.

Where do I pick up and drop off the equipment?

Scootaround will deliver the equipment right to your hotel, residence, venue, or cruise ship port.

For hotel rentals, simply leave the equipment at the hotel bell desk. For cruise ship rentals, you can leave the equipment at the location where you picked it up - generally, the lower gangway or embarkation desk (this differs depending on the cruise line).

When do I recharge the equipment's batteries?

The battery on your personal transport vehicle requires charging each day - just plug the power cord into a standard outlet at the end of your day and allow it to charge overnight. Some equipment will have a built in charger, others will come with a separate off-board charger. Our reps will ensure you understand how to use the personal transport vehicle you’ve rented - or call us toll-free at 1-888-441-7575 if you have any questions.

Can I take my equipment on a cruise?

Yes! Many of our customers book with Scootaround to ensure their mobility needs are met while on a cruise vacation. Call us in advance, and your equipment will be at the port when you arrive. Just leave it at the location where you picked it up, usually the lower gangway or embarkation desk (this could differ depending on the cruise line and port).

Will the equipment fit into the trunk of a car?

Transportable scooters can be loaded into the trunk of a medium- to full-sized car (with the heaviest piece weighing somewhere between 35 and 60 pounds).

Standard/Heavy Duty scooters and powerchairs cannot be disassembled and are more suitable to be transported in a minivan or SUV.
