Visiting Phoenix at this time of year is always such a pleasure, especially if home is somewhere that’s usually buried in snow through the winter months. Besides the glorious weather, Phoenix is also a great place to visit if you’re a foodie as there’s an amazing restaurant scene to discover, whatever type of cuisine you’re into. Here are some fantastic local restaurants, all of which get a high rating on brettapproved, a cool website that rates the accessibility of venues in the Phoenix area and beyond.

Bink’s Midtown

This downtown restaurant is known for its friendly staff, great service, and absolutely excellent food. Specializing in locally sourced ingredients, the Sand Dabs in Brown Butter and Almonds are a firm customer favourite, as are the succulent flat-iron steaks, and there are plenty of inventive dishes to tantalize those always looking for something different (if there are six of you, you can order up the Pig Head Special, yes, with a pigs head and plenty of side dishes). Accessibility features include free valet parking, spacious restaurant and bathrooms, and easy access to the patio.

Beckett’s Table

Offering seasonal American dining at its best, treat yourself to deliciousness like St. Louis Barbecued Ribs with “cream less” creamed corn, and pickled blackberries, or super creamy grits and sausage. Make sure to leave room for dessert, as it would be a sin not to try the toasted coconut cake with brown butter ice-cream or fig and pecan pie. There’s plenty of room to maneuver in restaurant and restrooms.

Chelsea’s Kitchen

This industrial chic restaurant offers up comfort food with interesting twists, and has a large and beautiful (easily accessible) patio. The taco platters are great, and you can choose from steak, ahi tuna, veggie, grilled swordfish, or short-rib tacos. Their burgers are also really good, and the green chili version (topped with fresh grilled chilies) is a much-loved local favourite. Accessibility features include free valet parking at lunch and dinner times, plenty of accessible parking, and spacious restaurant and bathrooms.

The Parlor Pizzeria

If you truly love pizza (and who doesn’t?) then you’ll love it here. Parlour Pizza’s pies have won numerous awards, and once you bite into one you’ll know why. Toppings are inventively put together to create masterpieces such as The House (bacon, kale, giardiniera, mozzarella, garlic) or The Autunnale (prosciutto, caramelized onion, marinated fig, sweet potato ricotta, arugula, salted almond). Plus, housed in an old bank, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and is easy to maneuver around, and provides valet parking.
