Getting to watch an NFL game in Texas is always a fantastic experience, and when a city as awesome as Houston is hosting then you’re in for a real treat. What’s extra cool is that the city of Houston is highly accessible, so if you’re traveling to the Super Bowl your mobility issues shouldn’t stop you from doing everything you enjoy. Super Bowl 51 is going to be a highly accessible Super Bowl, and Scootaround is ready to assist you with all of your Super Bowl scooter and wheelchair rental needs. In preparation for the big day we checked out the venues and associated attractions to help you prepare for your trip (as well as creating a great Super Bowl giveaway - see the end of this post for more details).
NRG Stadium is hosting the Super Bowl for a second time, and it is a great venue that has taken every consideration when it comes to guests with mobility issues. There is a disabled parking and drop-off location, accessible seating, automatic doors, and plenty of accessible washrooms. You’ll also find lowered counters at every restaurant, bar, and concession stand in NRG Stadium.
There are plenty of interesting events happening around the Super Bowl, ranging from those hosted by the NFL to tailgate parties and more. One that’s definitely worth getting tickets for is the NFL Experience Driven by Genesis, which offers autograph sessions with current NFL players and legends, photo opportunities with cheerleaders, lots of interactive games and activities, exhibits of Super Bowl rings and other special items, and much more. This event runs continually throughout the Super Bowl at the George R Brown Convention Center, which is fully accessible.
If you’re a music fan, then you’ll want to check out the amazing free concerts that are happening as part of the Super Bowl LIVE fan festival happening at the beautiful Discovery Green Park, which is accessible to all. There you can see ZZ Top, Solange, Leon Bridges, and top artists from various genres (but all with strong links to Texas).
When in Houston, not everything you do has to be football related of course, and the city has plenty of cultural attractions, restaurants, and much more to explore. You can go check out a real NASA base at Space Center Houston, lose yourself in the Museum District for an afternoon, or make it your mission to seek out the very best BBQ in the city – opinions vary, and locals are passionate about their favorites, but you could start at The Brisket House and would not leave disappointed or hungry.
Scootaround has nearby offices that can provide scooter and wheelchair rentals for the Super Bowl so that you can enjoy every moment of your trip to Houston. Contact us to find out how we can help, and get your booking made in advance of your trip so that all you need to worry about is having a fabulous time.
