With over 65 years of service to the SCI/D community, United Spinal Association understands how critical it is to reach out to people with useful information and a positive perspective on living with a disability when they need it the most, early in their rehabilitation.
United Spinal Association’s goal is to help people with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI/D) excel in all paths they take in life and remove obstacles so they can reach their goals. We believe access to the right resources and support is an important part of conquering the challenges of living with SCI/D.
Our Spinal Cord Resource Center helps individuals discover vital information on living with SCI/D–including tips on adjusting to life with a disability; rehab and recovery programs; wheelchair accessible home modifications; state and local resources; accessible transportation; self-advocacy; veterans benefits info and much more.
The Spinal Cord Resource Center includes information on:
• basics of living with SCI/D
• state and local resources
• info on United Spinal membership (free)
• access to a national peer support network
• timely assistance from SCI/D information specialists
• upcoming webinars on a variety of SCI/D-related topics
• directory of affiliated service and care providers
The website offers unrivalled support through an extensive resource library with timely advice by phone or through our online help-desk, and access to our national network of member chapters and peer support groups that connect newly injured or diagnosed individuals with others who personally understand their issues.
The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, the main fundraising arm of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis has also lended its resources and scientific and clinical expertise to the Spinal Cord Resource Center by providing access to their wealth of knowledge in the area of SCI research and clinical care.
